Following Antarctica, my most significant art- science collaboration has been traveling to Costa Rica as a visiting artist with the Organization for Tropical Studies. My first trip included a stay at the Las Cruces Biological Station near the Panama border, where the Wilson Botanical Garden is world famous for its collection of palms, orchids, heliconias and bromeliads. The range of colors in this specimen conjured up the image of botanical fireworks. |
